What’s up, San Antonio!

Your Digital Mayor, Quinton Starks, is back at it with the scoop on what’s moving and shaking across the Greater SA area.

We’re talking big energy this month, from Shakira lighting up the Alamodome to a new lifestyle district breaking ground near UTSA.

Add in a veterans parade that’s all heart, a high-profile gala, and one of the best dinners you’ll have all year, and June is looking like one for the books.

So grab your iced coffee, fire up the calendar app, and let’s run through what’s hot around here right now.

Here’s what’s inside this month’s edition:

  •  📲 San Antonio Scene: Longhorn pride + Shakira takes over the Alamodome

Your June Event Lineup

June in SA? It’s giving music legends, community pride, and a whole lot of Longhorn orange.

Whether you’re vibing to Shakira at the Alamodome, saluting our vets in true SA fashion, or dressing up for the Texas Exes Gala, the city’s got something for everyone this month.

Here's what’s on the radar:

If you know, you know. It’s been seven years since Shakira last hit the road, and now she’s bringing her world tour to the Alamodome for one night only.

On June 13th, get ready for a stadium-sized night of Latin pop, hip-shaking classics, and new hits off her latest album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran. This show’s gonna be loud, proud, and pure San Antonio summer energy.

Tickets started at $65, but if you slept on the release, resale is your best bet.

No tailgating allowed, so plan to meet your crew somewhere nearby before heading in. (Grab your tickets here)

  • 📍 Location: Alamodome, 100 Montana St, San Antonio, TX

  •  📅 Date: June 13

  •   Time: 7:30 PM

Hook ’em, y’all. The Texas Exes Gala is back on June 20th, and this year’s theme, Horns Up: Honor Tradition, Empower the Future, is all about Longhorn pride and paying it forward.

This upscale evening at the brand-new Kimpton Santo Hotel brings together UT alums, community leaders, and diehard fans to raise scholarship funds for future Longhorns.

Expect handcrafted cocktails, live music from the Alumni Band, a silent auction, and some seriously elite vibes.

Plus, they’re honoring The Honorable Leticia Van de Putte, a powerhouse of public service and proud UT alumna. Grab your tickets here.

  • 📍 Location: Kimpton Santo Hotel, 431 S Alamo St, San Antonio, TX

  •  📅 Date: June 20

  •   Time: 6:30 – 10:30 PM

San Antonio shows up for our veterans, and this event proves it.

The 5th Annual Charlie Watkins Parade of Honor is back on June 28, and it’s one of the most heartfelt events of the summer.

This free community parade is all about honoring the men and women who’ve served, with a full day of fun, food, and gratitude.

We’re talking everything from veteran support orgs to classic cars, floats, marching bands, and even a Lip Sync Battle. (You already know I’m showing up for that.)

Want to participate? You can register ahead of time by clicking here.

  • 📍 Location: Downtown San Antonio

  •  📅 Date: June 28

  •   Time: Ceremony at 10 AM | Parade starts at 11 AM

That’s the move for June, y’all.

Mark your calendars, rally your crew, and if you catch me out at any of these, come say what’s up.

📢 San Antonio Expansion

New life for San Antonio’s Tower Life Building

Big news from downtown: the iconic Tower Life Building is getting a glow-up, and not just a facelift.

Developers are turning this historic landmark into a full-blown vertical neighborhood, complete with 234 residential units, plus restaurants and shops at the ground and River Walk levels.

We’re talking skyline views, walkable vibes, and city living with a side of history.

Why This Matters:

  • 🏙️ It marks a major push for downtown residential living

  • 🍽️ New dining + retail options are coming to the River Walk

  •  📈 Expect nearby property values to rise as foot traffic and activity pick up

Real Talk: This is a bold move toward a more livable, vibrant downtown and a signal that San Antonio is leaning into the kind of urban growth we usually see in Austin or Dallas.

If you're into walkable neighborhoods, loft-style living, or investment plays in the city core… keep your eyes on this one.

🍴 Foodie Finds

A [Bliss]ful Bite on the South Side

If you’re looking for a hidden gem that delivers on flavor, mood, and pure culinary joy, let me put you on to Bliss.

Tucked into a beautifully restored filling station just south of downtown, Bliss isn’t just a restaurant, it’s an experience.

The kind of spot where you slow down, sip something bold, and let the food speak for itself.

Standout Menu Items:

  •  🦪 Oyster sliders with candied bacon on buttermilk chive biscuits

  • 🐟 Redfish with squid ink risotto and truffle caviar

  • 🍷 A wine list that knows exactly what it’s doing

  • 🥗 Salads and starters to try (get the octopus or the Mexican street corn fritters)

And the vibes? Romantic without trying too hard.

The service? Top-tier. Every plate feels like it was made with love and a little flex.

Insider Tips:

  • Ask for a patio seat if the weather’s nice. It’s cozy and just far enough from the buzz.

  • Let your server guide the wine pairing. They know their stuff and won’t steer you wrong.

  • Planning a celebration? Give them a heads-up when you book, and they’ll make it feel extra special.

📍 Location: 926 S. Presa St, San Antonio, TX

🍽️ Reservations are a good idea. This one books up fast!
